How often do you guess at an answer?
Do you remember when you were at school and the teacher asked you a direct question when had not been listening?
The fatal mistake would be to say that you didn’t know the answer, because surely that was what they had been teaching and talking about, so most of us learned to invent an idea based loosely on the subject and hope for the best.
Quite often this would get us out of trouble and possibly it could even have been correct (if we were super lucky).
Alot of us have learned that it is unacceptable to say, I don’t know.
